On this special day, we celebrate Ghana’s independence anniversary and commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of the Ghanaian people who fought for their freedom from colonial rule.

As the High Commissioner for Zambia, I join our brothers and sisters at the Ghana High Commission, and indeed the entire Ghanaian nation in celebrating this momentous occasion. Ghana’s rich history, culture, and traditions have inspired many Africans, including Zambia. Ghana is a shining example of what a nation can achieve when its people are united, resilient, and determined to overcome challenges.

Ghana has made significant progress in various sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, and governance. The country has also contributed to peacekeeping missions in Africa and around the world, demonstrating its commitment to promoting world peace and stability.

As we celebrate Ghana’s independence anniversary, let us also reflect on the challenges facing our continent and renew our commitment to work towards a brighter future for all Africans. We must continue to promote unity, respect for human rights, and economic empowerment to achieve sustainable development and prosperity.

Once again, I extend my warmest congratulations to Ms Betty Osafo Mensah, the Charge D’Affaires a.i of the Ghana High Commission here in Canberra, as well as the people of Ghana on this special occasion. May the bond between our two diplomatic missions continue to grow stronger, and may the Ghanaian people continue to prosper and shine as an example of African excellence.

Happy Independence Day, Ghana!
